Our Week!We had another fantastic week! We learned so much about numbers, how to write an opinion piece, and about subjects and predicates! We also all looked very nice for picture day on Tuesday! ReadingIn reading this week, we learned about identifying characters and settings of stories. We read the story Henry and Mudge and the Starry Night. We also reviews subjects in sentences and learned about the predicate of a sentence. A subject is what the sentence is about and the predicate is what the subject is doing! We watched a really fun video about Mr. Morton and all the things he does. WritingThis year, we will learn about and write three different types of writing pieces. This week we learned all about writing an opinion piece. Our theme is the season Fall. We started out by reading some facts about fall and deciding if these were things we like about the Fall season or dislike about the Fall season. We used this to determine our opinions about Fall! After making our opinions, we used our fact sheet to start our writing piece. We chose 3 things that we like or dislike about Fall and then listed the reasons we liked or disliked them. FundationsIn Fundations this week, we learned all about the secrets of knowing when to use C, K, and CK when we spell words. We also learned about closed syllables and how to identify if a word is a closed syllable or not! MathDid you know that we can write numbers in 4 different ways? We learned how to write in standard form, Base 10 form, expanded form, and word form this week!
We played a fun game of "Roll and Show" to practice writing 3 digit numbers in these four different ways. Then we made a fun Place Value Robot! We learned 2 different really fun games this week too! We learned how to play "Roll and Count" and "Race to 100!"
We also listened to and sang a really fun song about Place Value!!
