Our Week!We have had a wonderful week! We learned a lot about sequencing stories, making plural nouns, writing stories, subtracting, and all about river rocks! Reading StreetWe read a drama story this week called the “Bremen Town Musicians.” We LOVED that the story had music in it! WritingWe are learning to write narrative stories in our next writing unit. This week we started writing exciting beginnings. It started out with making a story scene with our main character, a turkey! We practiced giving our main character a name, an exciting action, and some dialogue. We also introduced our story’s setting. The story writing process is starting by drawing a scene with our main character at the beginning of the story. We will use this scene to write an exciting beginning. MathWe have all mastered addition and have moved in to learning subtraction with three digit numbers. This week we learned how to use Base 10 Blocks to regroup in the tens and hundreds places! ScienceThis week we learned how to sort river rocks using screens! Before sorting, we observed the mixture with hand lenses. Then we sorted a mixture into 5 different rock sizes! Once we used our screens to sort our rocks into 5 containers, we labeled the different river rocks. Guest ReaderWe had a guest reader today! Aubrey came to read us a story!

Our Week!We had a great week this week! We learned a lot and had some very special visitors to our school! Due to a few technical difficulties, this week's post is presented as a YouTube video! WritingIn writing, we made a really fun autumn craft to go with the Autumn Opinion piece we wrote last week! We read the story The Leaf Man by Lois Ehlert and then made our own leaf creatures! MathIn math this week, we mastered our addition skills. We practiced adding with regrouping using our Base 10 Block strategies and all performed so well on our Chapter 2 Tests today! ScienceThis class is a huge group of geologists now. This week we investigated the properties of different river rocks! Social StudiesWe had a great lesson about tolerating each others differences and learned to accept other preferences. First we made a human bar graph to show if we always, sometimes, or never liked different things. Then, we interviewed a partner to see how we are alike and different in our preferences.
