Our Week!We worked so hard to get ready for our Celebration of Learning event this week! The Continent Research was such a huge success! Continent ResearchWe all researched the seven continents in Gould and put together amazing projects! We also did a Reader’s Theater of Earth’s Seven Continents! We also spent the week practicing our parts for the Reader’s Theater! Earth’s Seven ContinentsImmigration TrunksWe also spent the last couple weeks working on a “Trunk Project” both at home and at school. We gathered information about a family member and learned all about them! We presented our trunks to the class. PresentingOur ProjectsMath: FractionsWe wrapped up our unit on fractions this week! We reviewed by practicing writing and drawing different fractions on our desks. We also played a fun game of Fraction BINGO! BOOK FAIR!HAPPY BIRTHDAY JOSHUA!

Our Week!We have had such a fun week! ReadingWe have really enjoyed this Reading Street Unit about responsibility. We have learned so much and really applied our amazing words this week. Computer LabWe reviewed money using Moby Max this week. We were able to practice counting change to the dollar, comparing money amounts, and solving word problems! Continent ResearchWe used the Chromebooks to continue researching our continents on Pebble Go! We will be organizing all of our information and presenting our continents soon. MathWe started a unit on fractions this week. We will learn how to divide shapes into two, three, and four equal parts. We loved exploring fraction pieces in small groups! Food Drive Reward!The entire second floor collected so much food for the food drive! They were all rewarded with extra recess and popsicles! Our Class Pictures!Meet Maverick and Star!After we had our special visitors from Texas come to our classroom, they took these two little hamster drawings home with them. These two have had so much fun exploring Texas! They sent our class some pictures! HAPPY BIRTHDAY RILEY!What we have been up to!We have had a very busy couple of weeks! We have learned a lot in reading, enjoyed some poetry, and have been learning to count money! ReadingThis Unit has been all about responsibility. We have learned how to be responsible community members and how to be responsible pet owners. We read two great stories! We have also been learning about pronouns! Writing and PoetryApril was poetry month! We did a lot with poetry and had a great time with “Poem in My Pocket” day! To study poems, we practiced comparing two poems and then looking deeper to decide how the author was feeling when they wrote them. Poem ReadingWe all read our poems from our pockets to the other second grade classes! It was so fun to mingle with our friends and read! What’s in a Name?We presented our names to each other after having a great time learning about our name origins with our families. Continent ResearchWe are still researching our continents! This week and last week, we took notes from research books with our groups. MathWe have been learning all about money on math. We are learning to count, compare, and solve problems with different amounts. A great way to practice counting money is to grab a handful of change at home and see if you can count it all! Calendar ExcitementWe have been waiting s really long time to be able to color green on our temperature graph! It finally happened!! The outdoor temperature finally made it above 50 degrees!! Laser ShowAs a reward for reaching 1,000 words on our Word Wizard Wall, the entire school got to enjoy a magical laser light show in the cafeteria! |
