Behavior Guidelines
The classroom will be very community oriented. As a class, we will come up with our classroom rules together during the first week of school. We will create a classroom management plan of our own that will work the best for all of our personalities here! We will be using a clip chart in the classroom. Learners will have the opportunity to move up and down the chart throughout the school day. Below is a picture of how the Clip Chart looks! Every learner will start the day off on the green Ready to Learn. The learners will receive 3 Tickets for Outstanding and 2 Ticket for Great Job and 1 Ticket for Good Day! There is always positive encouragement to move higher on the chart.
What do we do with the tickets? The tickets will be used a rewards that the learners will earn for their good behavior. Each ticket will give them access to "Reward Coupons," which will present the learners with different choices of how to use their tickets. Each coupon will cost a certain amount of tickets and will range in different prizes.
Some prize examples are:
When it comes to the bottom of the chart, there are different options for the learners. In the blue "Think About It" section, learners will be asked to take some time to reflect about their behavior and why they may be acting the way that they are. This can be a time where the learner sits alone, talks with a friend, or even talks with the teacher. The great thing about it is that the learner gets to make the choice for their reflection time. The very bottom of the chart will also come with different options for the consequence of unwanted behavior. Let's face it, we all have bad days, so I feel that making the consequence fit the action will be the best for this section. Some possible outcomes of this section include:
**A TRIP TO THE OFFICE MAY OCCUR ANYTIME THE NEED ARISES** |
Class DojoThe behavior plan in the classroom will also work directly with the program, Class Dojo. This program is a point system where the learners can earn points for positive behavior, as well as negative. With the point system, I will be moving clips up the behavior chart, for example, when a learner reached 3 points, they move up a space on the chart. When a learner reaches 5 points, they move up the chart for a second time. At the end of the day, the learners will have the opportunity to move up a third time (typically putting them on Outstanding) by having a positive percentage.
Examples of the behaviors are: Positive:
Negative:
