Our Week this Week!We have had a really great week this week! We learned a lot and had so much fun doing it! Reading StreetWe read a really neat story about sport's traditions this week. We read a story called "Just Like Josh Gibson," and then listened to a story read by Kevin Costner called "Catching the Moon." We learned how to compare different texts and enjoyed reading about baseball! Writing: ExpositoryWe have begun learning about expository writing! We will use what we know from these lessons to do a research project in the month of May! ContinentsWe are going to be researching the Seven Continents soon! We have started learning all about the continents by readings about them, watching some fun song videos, and labelling them on a map! Physical Science: LiquidsWe had a really great time exploring different liquids this week! We described the liquids by using different properties to explain how they move and look. After we explored and learned the properties of liquids, we tested our vocabulary knowledge by playing a game of Go FIsh with liquid cards! Poem in My PocketToday was "Poem in my Pocket" day! We all loved writing or choosing a poem to carry around with us today. It was even more fun getting to read our poems to the other second grade classes!

WHAT WE HAVE BEEN UP TO!We have been really busy lately! We have been working so hard to learn how to use solids to make new structures, learned how to multiply, and finished writing our own narrative stories! WritingWe have completed our Narrative stories! Everyone wrote a story that takes place at the beach or in the ocean. They all came out really well and we cannot wait to type them up! MathWe have all become multiplication wizards! We did a great job with this unit. We learned how to multiply using repeated addition, equal groups, and dot paper. Then we learned how to multiply by 2s, 5s, and 10s. ScienceWe have completed 2 engineering challenges in Physical Science lately. We learned all about solids and how they can be used to build things like towers and homes. One challenge required us to work together to build a tall tower that stands on its own and withstands wind. The second challenge we used note cards and paperclips to build a structure that was tall, stood on its own, and help a text book! TowersPaper Houses |
