What we have been up to!We have had a very busy couple of weeks! We have learned a lot in reading, enjoyed some poetry, and have been learning to count money! ReadingThis Unit has been all about responsibility. We have learned how to be responsible community members and how to be responsible pet owners. We read two great stories! We have also been learning about pronouns! Writing and PoetryApril was poetry month! We did a lot with poetry and had a great time with “Poem in My Pocket” day! To study poems, we practiced comparing two poems and then looking deeper to decide how the author was feeling when they wrote them. Poem ReadingWe all read our poems from our pockets to the other second grade classes! It was so fun to mingle with our friends and read! What’s in a Name?We presented our names to each other after having a great time learning about our name origins with our families. Continent ResearchWe are still researching our continents! This week and last week, we took notes from research books with our groups. MathWe have been learning all about money on math. We are learning to count, compare, and solve problems with different amounts. A great way to practice counting money is to grab a handful of change at home and see if you can count it all! Calendar ExcitementWe have been waiting s really long time to be able to color green on our temperature graph! It finally happened!! The outdoor temperature finally made it above 50 degrees!! Laser ShowAs a reward for reaching 1,000 words on our Word Wizard Wall, the entire school got to enjoy a magical laser light show in the cafeteria!
