The Rest of Our Week!We have had a really fun week this week! We got to meet some very interesting birds! WINGMASTERS!We had an amazing lesson about birds of prey with Wingmasters and even got to meet some of the birds that they have rescued. We saw falcons, a hawk, and two owls! Reading: A Walk Through the DesertWe really enjoyed our Reading Street lesson this week. We read an expository text about the desert. It actually tied in really well with our Wingmasters visit! We read our story and then also read another short story about a horned lizard in our Sleuth books. Writing: All About AutumnWe have started using our Empowering Writers lessons this week! We are learning all about autumn and author's purpose. We looked at an expository writing piece and labelled all the parts of this type of writing. We learned about author's purpose and the different reasons why author's write. They write to Persuade, Inform, or to Entertain. These types of writings are called Opinion, Expository, and Narrative writings. This week we looked at expository writing and practiced writing our own. We practiced looking at The Expository Pillar to learn how to write an expository piece and compared it to our writing passage about autumn. We wrote down facts from the "All About Autumn" piece and then we drew a fun autumn illustration. MATH: Reviewing for our Test!We had our first math test today about Place Value. We had a fun time reviewing with our Place Value Task Cards before taking the assessment. Super Awesome Test Takers!!Vacation Sharing!Thank you Riley for sharing your fun Florida Vacation pictures with us today!
