Our Day Today! We had another great day in Second Grade today! ReadingThis week our Reading Street story is about Abraham Lincoln. We have been reading about how he worked to change history by being one of the greatest presidents. In writing response, we wrote about what kind of a story a biography is and how it is a story written about a person. WritingThis week we are learning about story critical characters and how to describe them in detail. We started out our lesson by first drawing our own scarecrows and then answering some detail generating questions to add to them. We will write a short paragraph about our scarecrows tomorrow. MathWe have been working on adding numbers with different place value strategies. We have been using base 10 blocks, expanded form, and number lines. We have been solving word problems during our Number Talks this week and sharing our answers! Today we practiced adding with three digit numbers and regrouping in the tens and ones places. We are almost ready to show what we know on our math assessment! Veteran Readers!Yesterday we had a wonderful time listening to a story about Veteran's Day, read by one of our very own veterans here in Gloucester! What a wonderful tradition this is for Kindergarten through Second Grade!!
