Our Week!We learned a lot this week! We had some really fun investigations with math and science this week as well! Reading StreetWe read an old myth in Reading Street called “The Night the Moon Fell.” We practiced our skills of finding details in the story to explain the plot and theme. WritingNext week we are going on a field trip to see the play “Curious George and the Golden Meatball!” We decided to do our own curious writing piece this week about something we at curious about! We started by making a circle map to brainstorm all the different things we wonder about. The next day, we put our thoughts into words with a stop light writing organizer. Today, we added our sentences to a draft so that we can edit and revise next week before publishing! MathThis week we learned how to measure with customary units! We used rulers to measure and compare inches and feet. We also used our knowledge of using bar models to help us solve word problems about measurement. ScienceLast week we learned how rocks can move down mountains and rivers to create the sand at the beach. This week we had a wonderful sand investigation provided by one of the moms in our classroom! We dug deep into investigating the sand at local beaches of Gloucester and talked about how the same might have gotten to each beach! We looked at samples from Wingaersheak Beach, Niles Beach, and Good Harbor Beach! West Parish Spirit Day!Today we dressed as Word Wizards! Second Grade represented adjectives! Look at our pictures and see if you can guess our words!
